Reno Big Band to Hold UNR Band Fundraiser

A group of local jazz musicians are doing all they can to help keep the University of Nevada marching band going.

The Reno Big Band plays in downtown Reno Tuesday nights. But this weekend they’ll team up with other local talent to raise money for youth education programs and the University of Nevada marching band.

Local singer Jakki Ford and nationally known pianist ‘Big Tiny Little’ will both be at the performance. “It is the best rush. Seventeen live musicians cranking out sound. It just encourages you to belt away and have a great time,” says Ford.

Big Tiny Little says, “It’s tremendous. Having a 17-piece band behind you, it’s like going from a Model T to a Cadillac.”

The two hour ‘Sunday in the Park’ concert starts at 5pm at the Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley Ranch.

$5 from every ticket sold will go to UNR’s marching band.
